BACCARA RESORT CANCUN

We visited Baccara last November and were allowed to look at the rooms and grounds. There is a nice stretch of beach there. The resort location is great, across the street from Flamingo Shopping Mall. There is a bar/restaurant there called Studebaker's and you'll know why when you see the two or three classic old Studebaker cars parked in the garage, all with Indiana license plates (the owner's cars). The resort is sort of eclectic. The rooms are all built to various shapes, sizes and configurations. You have to climb stairs to get to the higher floors, we did not see any elevators. We looked at two rooms, a one bedroom and a two bedroom. The rooms passed the "sniff" test, that is, they did not have any mold or mildew odor. Everything we saw was in decent condition and seemed recently renewed. Housekeeping is very good and maintenance appears to be excellent. Some rooms must have an ocean view, but not the ones we saw. There are small mini-kitchens. The rooms did seem a little dark to me and you can see I had to lighten up the photos so that you could see the details. There was bottled water available, so my guess is that tap water is not purified. There is a swimming pool down by the beach that is elevated from beach level by a deck. I do have some photos and have posted them below. You can view their web site at: http://www.avalonresorts.net/
