The Royal Sands

In November of 1999, construction was underway on the first phase of the brand new Royal Sands resort in Cancun Mexico. We visited the development then and took some pictures of the construction work.

In February of 2000, the first phase of the Royal Sands opened on time and to rave reviews. Again, we were there to snap a few photos of the premier luxury resort in Cancun.

What can you expect to find at the Royal Sands? The resort consists of some two hundred luxury 2 bedroom condominiums, all with 2 bathrooms, full American size kitchen, dining area, living room with sofa, chairs, satellite television, VCR, stereo CD player and two very comfortable fold down murphy type beds. The master bedroom features a quality king size bed, dresser, satellite television, and a large walk in closet with electronic safe for storing your valuables. The second bedroom locks off from the main suite, with its own entrance door, affording extra privacy for guests or relatives traveling with you. The second bedroom features two full size beds, a dresser and satellite television. Another large closet is provided. Each bedroom also features its own full size bathroom with shower and tub. Construction is high quality with marble floors and solid noise-proof walls. You can expect all of the comforts of a fully furnished and stocked apartment including kitchen appliances, cookware and table service. The living room area and each bedroom has excellent individually controlled air conditioning. Tap water is fully purified and safe for drinking. Daily maid service is also provided to help you concentrate on your vacation and not worry about the daily chores. There is a change of bedding on Wednesday and clean towels are delivered every day. There is a large ocean view terrace right outside of the double patio doors. You can access the terrace from either the living room or through the master bedroom. The resort is brand spanking new and in excellent condition. The employees who work here always provide great friendly service. Since opening the Royal Sands his has quickly become the number one TUG (Timeshare User's Group) rated resort. One other thing we really liked at the Royal Sands was the close proximity to the Kukulcan Shopping Mall, located literally right next door. The Kukulcan Mall is home to many good places to eat and drink such as Ruth's Chris Steak House and Splash. Also, there are many stores located there to shop for souvenirs, jewelry, perfume and designer clothes. There is also a food court, featuring Mexican, Chinese, pizza and even Burger King. There's even a bowling alley for entertainment. You can walk to the mall from the Sands in 5 minutes.
